However, utilizing a full node is possible and still the recommended method of accessing the Qortal Network. This allows easier access to Qortal, and allows users with less proficient technical skills to utilize the network without having to run multiple setups, no matter how simple those setups may be.

Replies sent with this UI in Q-Chat, are not yet encrypted. The new group encryption functionality for Q-Chat WILL be getting added to the legacy UI in the near future, however, this is likely to be one of the last updates for this interface, as it is slowly phased out as the primary UI.

+Please note - As of October 20th 2024 - Qortal no longer utilizes 'Sponsorship' in order to start minting. A new system that is based on group_approval issued from a select group of community-elected 'minter admins' will be what enables/disables minter status for any account. This process will be further documented in the future, and right now is still in progress with full implementation. Sponsorship was removed due to the obvious (and only) 'game' that could be played against it, called 'self-sponsorship' (creating a new minting account for yourself instead of someone else. The dev group has been aware of this obvious game since Genesis, however it was not expected to be taken advantage of so early on in the project's history. As such, we were greatly disappointed when it was anyway from those that were rescued from the dead 'QORA' project. This change has dramatically changed the state of minting on Qortal, and changed the methods by which a new user will become a Qortal Minter. This is essentially a 'rebirth' of the project in many ways, and a purging of the old self-sponsors who were determined to cause the downfall of the project. Another win for Qortal, and loss for selfishness and greed. During this transition period this wiki will be INCORRECT in many ways, and as such it is highly suggested to join the community in one of the above-mentioned fashions, and ASK about the new methods and how to acquire minting status. This wiki will obtain the required updates as time goes on and the community and dev group have the time to make such updates. Thank you and here's to the future and re-birth of the Qortal project!

(The term 'node' simply means a computer with the Qortal software installed on it.) Every user accesses Qortal's network from their own computer, without the need to reach out to any domain, server, or service provider. True decentralization insists upon this fact, and therefore it is the primary and only method that will be suggested by the Qortal developer group.
