+Qortal no longer utilizes 'sponsorship' in order to obtain minting rights on the network. A new system, 'mintership', is now utilized. A community-elected group of users from all over the world, now utilize group_approval transactions to 'vote in' a new minter, or to delegate minting rights to any account.
+In order to obtain rights:
+  * access the new 'Q-Mintership' Q-App - This app is where minting rights and the votes required to obtain them, are obtained by users.
+  * Access the 'MinterBoard' - The MinterBoard is the location for accounts to obtain minting rights.
+  * Publish a 'card' - A card with information about yourself, and links to things you have done, published to QDN, are added to the card.
+  * Obtain community and Minter Admin votes - Once you have obtained at least 40% of the Minter Admins' votes, actions will be displayed to the admins, allowing them to issue the GROUP_APPROVAL transaction required to invite your account to the MINTER group.

 The information here is likely a bit behind, as development of the project is moving a lot more quickly than the subsequent documentation process. As of Feb 2025, Qortal has implemented a completely different method of becoming a minter, and multiple new interfaces have been created for accessing the platform.

Sponsorship was removed due to the obvious (and only) 'game' that could be played against it, called 'self-sponsorship' (creating a new minting account for yourself instead of someone else. The dev group has been aware of this obvious game since Genesis, however it was not expected to be taken advantage of so early on in the project's history. As such, we were greatly disappointed when it was anyway from those that were rescued from the dead 'QORA' project. This change has dramatically changed the state of minting on Qortal, and changed the methods by which a new user will become a Qortal Minter. This is essentially a 'rebirth' of the project in many ways, and a purging of the old self-sponsors who were determined to cause the downfall of the project. Another win for Qortal, and loss for selfishness and greed. During this transition period this wiki will be INCORRECT in many ways, and as such it is highly suggested to join the community in one of the above-mentioned fashions, and ASK about the new methods and how to acquire minting status. This wiki will obtain the required updates as time goes on and the community and dev group have the time to make such updates.
