Old/Previous Method

Please note: after setting up your computer as a node, be sure to review the Port Forwarding guide to ensure your node functions optimally.

How to Install Qortal on Windows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XRlSQRQjdI

1. Download the Qortal core installer - https://github.com/Qortal/qortal/releases/latest/download/qortal.exe

2. Download the Qortal UI installer - https://github.com/Qortal/qortal-ui/releases/latest/download/Qortal-Setup-win64.exe

3. Run Qortal installer, click next next next finish through install like any normal install. Do the same with the Qortal UI installer.

4. Once both are installed run 'Qortal' app (which you can find by clicking start button and typing Qortal) - this will start Qortal, and a splash screen will come up and tell you it is automatically downloading bootstrap, extracting it, and then starting.

5. Once Qortal has started, it will run 'in the background' with a Q icon on the taskbar. It will be RED until it is fully synchronized, then it will turn BLUE.

6. Run 'Qortal UI' (white and blue icon) - and create your Qortal account. (account creation process is very straightforward, just be sure you download and save your qortal wallet backup file in multiple locations, and use a password you will remember, it can be simple it doesn't effect the overall security, just make sure you remember the password and save the file in multiple locations. That file is the only way to access your account. It will also automatically save your account in the UI so you won't need to use the backup file unless you setup on another computer and want to access the same account.)

7. That's it, once you have your account and your node is synchronized, if you would like to become a minter, let us know, and we can create a sponsorship key to get that process started.

FYI: HELP GUIDES BELOW MAY SUGGEST BOOTSTRAPPING WHICH IS NO LONGER NEEDED AFTER CORE VERSION 2.0! These guides were made prior to 2.0

If your Windows 10 is blocking install of Qortal, check this out: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/fix-no-run-anyway-option-on-smartscreen-windows-10/amp/

Remember to set the core to run after auto restart with auto updates if you choose to leave that on. Otherwise, turn auto updates off and do those manually and remember to start your core after. Here is a help guide to set that configuration: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/add-an-app-to-run-automatically-at-startup-in-windows-10-150da165-dcd9-7230-517b-cf3c295d89dd
